A beautiful, densely growing, bush-forming species, rediscovered in 1989 in Veracruz, Mexico, it can form large clumps of slender, green stems that can reach 4 to 5 m in height. Each stem supports a spreading crown of up to 7 flat, leathery, dark green leaves. A strong, very robust species that grows easily. Interestingly, in contrast to other bush-forming Chamaedorea, it is more resistant to drought and pests and, due to its thick, leathery leaves, it can even withstand light frosts. It prefers a shady spot and is a good choice as a houseplant.
