This palm originates from the Fijian island of Viti Levu, where it grows in dense rainforest. Along with Veitchia filifera, it is one of the smallest of its genus. The slender trunk reaches a diameter of approximately 10 cm, and the small crown consists of elegant, strongly curved feathery leaves with widely spaced, long, and broad leaflets. The small seeds germinate reliably, and subsequent growth is very rapid.
